A New Entry Into the Loose Pigment Arena

I love loose pigment powders. They pack a good punch of color, and are so flexible – even though I generally only use them eyeshadows. Dex New York offers a collection of 17 loose mineral pigments in a range of colors.

I got the chance to try out Gansevoort, a soft matte lavender. It is a beautiful shade, applies easily, blends well. Besides being mineral-rich, it it is enhanced with vitamins C & E as well as anti-oxidants. It is gentle on eyes which is great if you have sensitive skin. However, I don’t see this as taking the place of my beloved MAC pigments. For one, I had a hard time getting a good pop of color. It goes on sheer and doesn’t get much more intense, even after attempting three or four layers. I like intense eye color.

I also found that Dex pigments did not have good staying power. By the end of the day, most of the shadow had disappeared from my eyes. Maybe this is because it is a matte shade? I usually wear shimmers and find they last all day. In any case, it was disappointing to find nothing left on my lids at the end of the day.
