Saaf Organics: Good Oil. No, Really.

When I first got Saaf Organic Ultimate Moisture for Face, I almost chickened out of using it. It is an oil. An oil! I spent my childhood reading teen magazines that all warned about the evils of oil on your face. I do not generally have dry skin, but in the winter, it can feel a little tight, so I decided to be brave and give it a shot.

Saaf Skincare describes itself as “A marriage between safe science and nature.” It is 100% natural, certified organic, certified vegan, alcohol-free, cruelty-free, and GMO-free. Those natural oils in Ultimate Moisture for Face include rosehip oil, safflower oil, vitamin E, pomegranate oil, ylang ylang flower oil, and geranium.

I smoothed a few drops on my face. Yup, that’s oil. But it absorbs surprisingly fast. The directions say to blot off extra with a tissue after a few minutes, but I didn’t find that necessary. I found the Saaf serum to be very hydrating, but didn’t leave me feeling greasy. It also was gentle on my skin. No inflammation or irritation – it was quite soothing. It is recommended for rosacea sufferers because of these calming properties. It also does a good job of evening out skin tone. I would not use this in the summer, but while it is still cold and windy, it is perfect. I am eager to try the Eraser Body Oil before summer, though – get those legs into shape!

I have one complaint, and it’s kind of a silly one: the packaging. It comes in a sleek, heavy glass bottle… with a cheap, plastic, gold-tone pump top. The first few times I used it, the pump stuck slightly and oil shot halfway across the room. I have since learned to cup my hand and squirt the oil directly into my palm.
