Holistic Microdermabrasion: Microdermx

Microdermabrasion has always scared me a little bit. It is literally scraping off layers of skin - that just sounds painful. But after using Nikkel’s Microdermx, I am hooked.

This simple at-home, all natural crystal scrub (medical grade corundum crystals to be exact, which, apparently, is second only to diamonds on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness) doesn’t require any fancy or expensive machinery. Just take a pea-sized dab and rub it on a section of damp skin until the cream “dries” out, balls up, and crumbles off. This is not a quick process. Beginning to end, I was scrubbing for nearly 30 minutes. My skin felt tingly, hot to the touch, and was red and slightly puffy. But damn, it was velvety soft! Microdermx doesn’t just abandon you - it comes with a post-treatment moisturizing cream that helps soothe the skin.

The puffiness went away immediately; the heat after about 15 minutes. My skin was still slightly red and splotchy through til the next day, but only slightly. Most people probably wouldn’t notice. I did not notice any improvement to skin tone, but my skin was incredibly smooth and soft.

Three Months Later…

I have used Microdermx infrequently over the last few months - mainly due to time constraints (though I did get “better” at it as I went). The last use was just a few weeks ago. It came after four transcontinental flights, four 10-hour days in the wind and sun and dirt of a farm, and a total of two weeks on a wintery East Coast. My skin felt and looked like hell. The surface was rough, almost patchy. The tone was heinously blotchy. What I thought was sunburn was likely windburn, but after some splotchy freckling, I thought maybe it was another malady all together. Whatever was going on with my skin, one single treatment with Microdermx and all was well. My skin tone normalized, the texture smoothed out, and my face finally felt clean. No “side effects” either. I am officially a true believer.

Microdermx can be purchased at Microdermx.com

Great read. Wow, I can’t believe it dries up and peels off! Interesting. I’ll have to get ahold of this one.
