Personal Alchemy: Spa Quality Lotions, Drugstore Price

24 July 2008 945 views No Comment

Personal Alchemy bath & body products offer a unique combination: affordable, organic beauty products that don’t feel like they can only be used by the Birkenstock set.

Owner Tiffany McCauley, a long-time massage therapist, bought the company from her former boss, who created Personal Alchemy herself. Tiffany was trained to make the lotions and potions from scratch, and jumped at the chance to buy the company. The line incorporates ayurvedic concepts, which require the body’s three energies to be balanced for proper health and vitality.

I tried two products: the Citrus body lotion and the Bare healing balm. I really liked the lotion. It was light and absorbed quickly, but moisturizer all day. The scent was citrusy-sweet without smelling fake or cloying. The Bare balm I was less impressed with. The near-solid blend of shea butter, vitamin E, aloe, saffron, and jojoba oil is similar to many products currently on the market. It does what it says, but the whole “unscented” thing doesn’t work for me. Instead, it just smelled like plastic. It is marketed for men, which seems appropriate – the only thing that keeps my husband from using my lotions and potions is girly scent. Looks like this one is going on his side of the bathroom.

Personal Alchemy products are hand-made and cruelty-free. The contain no lauryl/laureth sulfates, are eco-friendly, and use recycled and biodegradable packaging. Priced around $10-$15, Personal Alchemy products are affordable enough to be everyday luxuries.

Products can be purchased at PersonalAlchemy.com
